How Do You Handle Disappointment?
Sep. 30th, 2004 07:29 amNot very well.
Disappointment and I are not friends and there are times that I can become downright petulant when I have to deal with it.
If it is a more physical disappointment, then I will react appropriately to the situation. I will comment and argue (sometimes incessantly) and exorcize my feelings of disappointment in that way. Sometimes I will go out to the gym and work out until I collapse from exhaustion.
However, if it is an emotional or mental disappointment, my approach to it is a bit different. I go to the one place that I know will get me through it and will shelter me as I try to work everything out.
I go to my big sister. I go to Piper.
I know that no matter how big or small the disappointment, I can go to Piper. She will hug me or hold me while I talk through it or while I cry.
I deal with disappointment in whatever way I can.
