Is There Any Truth To The Saying...
Aug. 9th, 2004 07:17 amIs There Any Truth To The Saying: "Keep Your Friends Close And Your Enemies Closer?" Do You Have Enemies? Do You Have More Friends Than Enemies?
Wow...Go right for the jugular on some of these questions.
I have many enemies and more seem to come into play every single day. I'm one of the "Charmed Ones". Enemies sort of come with the territory.
I do have several friends, but unfortunately, I don't think that they outnumber the demons and warlocks that want to kill me---although some of the ones I have met lately would probably be able to hold their own. (Yes, Stephanie, I'm talking about you.)
Until I told Stephanie, Darryl was the only non-supernatural person that knew our secret. We consider him to be like a big brother to us. He was Andy Trudeau's partner before Andy died and after Andy's death, he took it upon himself to keep and eye on us and try to protect us. He has risked his neck for us on more than one occassion. However, every time we try to thank him for his help, he tells us that we risk our lives every day to protect the world in which we live in. I told him that he's family and that protecting is what we do. Of course, knowing that Andy died to protect Prue...I think that has some affect on what he does, as well.
I don't know if I agree that you should keep your enemies closer than you keep your friends. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between friend and enemy. Cole started out being our enemy...and that waitress from the bar started out being a friendly acquaintance. Then, Cole protects me from the demon of rage, and that waitress tries to kill Prue.
See, it's hard sometimes---you can't always tell who is friend and who is enemy.
I say, cherish your friends and be on the look out for your enemies. Just don't get so wrapped up in looking out for and stalking the enemy that you forget that you're loved and have friends. Don't let watching out for your enemies consume you and make you blind to the other things around you.
